Jorge Abreu Gomez
Toronto, ON, Canada

Dr. Abreu Gomez is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Medical Imaging, University of Toronto. He is also a staff radiologist at the Division of Abdominal Imaging of University Health Network, Mount Sinai Hospital and Women’s College Hospital.

He is member of the Society of Abdominal Radiology Disease Focused Panel in Adrenal Imaging and has published at least 20 papers focused on urogenital radiology. He frequently presents exhibits and lectures at peer-reviewed events. His clinical/research interests include urogenital radiology, with a special interest in prostate and adrenal imaging. 

Katherine Anderson
Vancouver, BC, Canada

Dr. Anderson is the Program Director for the Female and Functional Urology Program at the University of British Columbia and Vancouver Coastal Health. Originally from the Maritimes, she did her urology residency at Dalhousie University before completing a functional urology, urodynamics, and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the Bristol Urologic Institute in the United Kingdom.

Her research interests focus on neurogenic bladder advances, adolescent transitional urology optimization, and quality of life outcomes following urinary incontinence treatment.

Jennifer Bjazevic
London, ON, Canada

Dr. Bjazevic is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Urology at Western University and an Associate Scientist within the Clinical Research Division at the Lawson Health Research Institute. She is also Undergraduate Medical Education Academy Educator, Clinical Skills Course Chair, and Endourology Fellowship Program Director at Western, and serves on the Western University Program Leadership Council and the RCPSC Surgical Foundations Committee.

Dr. Bjazevic attained her medical degree from the University of Calgary, followed by residency training in urology at the University of Manitoba. She then completed fellowship training in endourology and advanced stone disease at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. She also holds a Master of Science degree, as well as a Master of Health Professions Education.

Her research revolves around elucidating the underlying causes of urinary stone disease, focusing particularly on dysbiosis of the microbiome and the influence of factors, such as exposure to vitamins, toxins, urinary pathogens, and antibiotics. Her work has been supported by the Urology Care Foundation AUA Research Scholar Award, the CUASF Early Investigator Research Grant, and the NSAUA Datta G. Wagle Young Investigators Award. In addition, her contributions to the field have been acknowledged through various honours, including the Western University Academic Merit Award, the AUA Outstanding Graduate Scholar Award, and the Dr. John Denstedt Research Excellence Award.

Rodney H. Breau
Ottawa, ON, Canada

Dr. Breau is a surgical oncologist, senior scientist in epidemiology, and Professor of Urology at The University of Ottawa/Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. Dr. Breau serves or has served on numerous American Urological Association and Cancer Care Ontario leadership committees and is currently the Chair of the CUA Guidelines Steering Committee. He is the primary investigator of several multicenter surgical trials in urologic oncology and is the co-lead of a national cohort study of over 20 000 patients with kidney cancer (CKCis).

Dr. Breau attended medical school at Dalhousie University and did his urology residency at the University of Ottawa. He completed his urologic oncology and robotic surgery fellowship at Mayo Clinic and received a Master of Science in clinical and translational research from Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education.

Chandi Chandrasena
Ottawa, ON, Canada

Dr. Chandrasena is OntarioMD’s Chief Medical Officer, providing the clinical perspective to inform digital health products and services for physicians. She plays a key role with digital health technology, clinician engagement, change management and education, and is actively involved in provincial and national discussions on EHR integration and data interoperability.

With over 20 years of specialization in comprehensive family medicine, Dr. Chandrasena deeply understands the challenges of community practice. She has a special interest in physician leadership and professional accountability, advocating for a robust primary care and focusing on end-users to alleviate inadvertent technological burdens.

Dr. Chandrasena has contributed to numerous national and provincial conferences, webinars, and discussions on digital technology, burnout, and administrative burden.

Ben H. Chew
Vancouver, BC, Canada

Dr. Chew is a urologist at Vancouver General Hospital at the University of British Columbia and is the Chair of Research for the Endourological Society. He completed his endourology fellowship with Dr. John Denstedt and Dr. Stephen Pautler at Western University. 

Dr. Chew’s research focuses on how kidney stones form and intestinal absorption of minerals that can form kidney stones (calcium and oxalate). He is also interested in biomaterials as they pertain to urinary devices.

Sumit Dave
London, ON, Canada

Dr. Dave is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and Division of Urology at Western University and works as a pediatric urologist at London Health Sciences Center.

He completed medical school at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, Pondicherry, India. After completing pediatric surgery residency from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, he moved on to Sydney, Australia, where he worked as a pediatric general surgery fellow at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, University of New South Wales.

Dr. Dave primary areas of research interest include neurogenic bladder, vesicoureteric reflux, and minimally invasive reconstructive pediatric urology.

Monica A. Farcas
Toronto, ON, Canada

Dr. Farcas is an academic urologist at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto. She is the Agnico Eagle Chair in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Endourology at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Farcas is dually trained as a surgeon and an engineer. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering in addition to her medical degree and specialty training in urology. She is further subspecialty fellowship-trained in endourology, minimally invasive surgery, and kidney transplantation.

Dr. Farcas’s research interests include surgical innovation and device development. She runs a multidisciplinary laboratory of clinicians, engineers, and scientists and has been involved in multiple innovation incubators in Canada. She has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Temerty Faculty of Medicine Emerging Leader Award and numerous teaching awards. She is the founder and current President of the Canadian Society for Women in Urology.

Connor Forbes
Vancouver, BC, Canada

Dr. Forbes is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He completed his medical school and urology residency at UBC, followed by a two-year combined clinical and research fellowship in endourology and minimally invasive surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

His research interests are in kidney stones and benign prostate hyperplasia, including basic science mechanisms. He is a member of the EDGE Research Consortium, and is an investigator on multi-institutional trials in BPH and kidney stone management.

Miles Mannas
Vancouver, BC, Canada

Dr. Mannas is an Assistant Professor in the UBC Department of Urologic Sciences and surgeon-scientist at Vancouver General Hospital, with specialized expertise in robotics and image-guided diagnostics and therapeutics for prostate cancer.

He graduated from the University of British Columbia’s urology program before completing his urologic oncology fellowship training at NYU Langone Health.

Dr. Mannas’ clinical research program is focused on improving the diagnosis and treatment of localized prostate cancer. Additionally, his translational research focuses on developing novel techniques for real-time pathologic tissue analysis using artificial intelligence.

Ross Mason
Halifax, NS, Canada

Dr. Mason is a urologist and urologic oncologist in Halifax, NS, and an Associate Professor of Urology at Dalhousie University.

He completed his medical school and residency training in urology at Dalhousie. He subsequently completed a Society of Urologic Oncology-accredited fellowship in urologic oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where he also completed a master’s degree in clinical and translational science.

His clinical and research interests include all aspects of urologic oncology, with a particular focus on robotic surgery and malignancies of the bladder, kidney, and prostate.

Brendan McCormick
Ottawa, ON, Canada

Dr.  McCormick is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa. He is the Medical Director of the Home Dialysis Program at the Ottawa Hospital and the Medical Director of the Kidney Stone Prevention Clinic at the Jindal Kidney Care Centre. His major clinical interests include peritoneal dialysis, kidney stone prevention, and electrolyte disorders.

Peter Metcalfe
Edmonton AB, Canada

Dr. Metcalfe has been a pediatric urologist at the Stollery Children’s Hospital since 2006.  He is currently Professor of Surgery at the University of Alberta and has been Program Director since 2020. He was appointed Chief of Surgery at the Stollery Children’s Hospital in 2022

His current clinical interests include complex reconstruction of urinary tract and genital anomalies. His research interests include clinical outcomes with neuropathic bladders, the use of novel technologies in healthcare, and the prevention of testicular torsion through an online campaign.

John Morrell
Etobicoke, ON, Canada

Dr. Morrell has been a staff urologist at Etobicoke General Hospital in Toronto since 2007. 

He is a graduate of Queen’s University Medical School and completed his urology residency at the University of British Columbia and a fellowship in endourology at the University of Toronto.

He has been an early adopter of technologies to support workflow management.

Laura Nguyen
Hamilton, ON, Canada

Dr. Nguyen is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at McMaster University. She is a urologist at Hamilton Health Sciences and is fellowship-trained in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. She is passionate about surgical education and about providing exemplary medical and surgical care to her patients in her general urology and subspecialty practice.

Her clinical interests are primary and recurrent stress urinary incontinence, genitourinary fistulae, benign urethral masses, and complex urethral reconstruction in women. Dr. Nguyen’s research interests include surgical education of medical students and residents; outcomes research in pelvic reconstruction, neurogenic bladder, and urologic trauma; and gender diversity in surgery.

Dr. Nguyen has published in national and international journals, has co-authored several textbook chapters, and has presented at scientific meetings nationally and internationally.

Nick Paterson
Halifax, NS, Canada

Dr. Paterson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Urology at Dalhousie University. He spent over a decade in Ottawa from medical school through to the end of fellowship. There, he completed his urology residency and a two-year fellowship specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, renal transplant, and complex stone disease. He concurrently achieved his master’s degree through the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation. His clinical interests include open, laparoscopic and robotic renal and adrenal surgery, as well as endoscopic and percutaneous stone surgery. His academic interests include quality improvement, adoption of novel medical technology, medical education, and initiatives to expand access to living and deceased organ donation.

Ricardo A. Rendon
Halifax, NS, Canada

Dr. Rendon is a Professor in the Department of Urology and the Director of Research and Clinical Trials at Dalhousie University. He is the Chair of the Genito-Urinary Cancer Site Team, Nova Scotia Health Authority Cancer Program and a Senior Investigator at the Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute. Dr. Rendon is currently President of the Canadian Urological Association and the Chair of the Canadian Uro-Oncology Group.

He completed medical school and residency in Bogota, Colombia and subsequently completed a clinical and research uro-oncology fellowship at the University of Toronto, and a master’s degree in community health clinical epidemiology.

While his clinical practice focuses on all areas of urologic oncology, his research focuses on renal cell carcinoma, advanced prostate cancer, and urothelial cell carcinoma. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has been particularly active in the development of clinical guidelines and national and international collaborations in kidney, bladder, upper tract urothelial cell carcinoma, and prostate cancers.

Alexis Rompré-Brodeur
Montreal, QC, Canada

Dr. Rompré-Brodeur is a urologic oncologist at the McGill University Health Center in Montreal.

He completed his Society of Urologic Oncology fellowship at the National Cancer Institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is completing a master’s degree at from Duke University, focused on clinical trial designs and systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

His research interests are in clinical trials, hereditary and genetically defined renal cancer syndromes, advanced renal cancer, prostate cancer diagnosis, and medical imaging.

Bobby Shayegan
Hamilton, ON, Canada

Dr. Shayegan is an Associate Professor of Surgery at McMaster University. He is currently the Division Head of Urology at McMaster University, Chief of Surgery at SJHH, Head of CCO Surgical Oncology at SJHH and Chair of the Robotic Surgical Program. 

He completed his MD and residency at the University of Toronto. He subsequently pursued a comprehensive fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and joined the Division of Urology at McMaster in 2006.

Dr. Shayegan’s clinical research interests include minimally invasive techniques in urologic oncology and treatment of advanced prostate cancer.

Srikala Sridhar
Toronto, ON, Canada

Dr. Sridhar holds the position of Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto and is a genitourinary medical oncologist and Site Lead at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center. She is chair of the Genitourinary Medical Oncologists of Canada and Vice-Chair of the Medical Advisory Board of Bladder Cancer Canada. Additionally, she contributes her expertise as a member of the Canadian Clinical Trials Group – Genitourinary Disease Site Executive Committee, and the US National Cancer Institute Bladder Cancer Task Force.

Her primary research focus lies in new drug development and phase 2 clinical trials. She has significantly impacted the field of genitourinary oncology through her involvement as a principal or co-investigator on numerous industry and investigator initiated clinical trials, including several practice changing trials. With a specialization in advanced urothelial cancers, she is recognized internationally for her expertise. Her recent contributions to the field can be found in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA Oncology, and European Urology.

In recognition of her dedication and excellence in teaching and mentorship, Dr. Sridhar was honored with the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine, Postgraduate Medicine Teaching Award in 2011 and the Robert Hyland Mentorship Award in 2020.

Shaw P. Wan
Columbia, MO, United States

Dr. Wan is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Missouri–Columbia and the Director of the North Carolina Apex Urology and Stone Center.

He received his medical degree ay the University of Louisville, School of Medicine in Kentucky and completed his urology training at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. He is a retired Colonel (Retired) in the U.S. Army and current CEO of EEZ Technologies, LLC.

Dr. Wan has had several inventions commercialized — including autologous sling needle, suture-guiding catheter, and suction sheath, among others — and continues to have some under development.

Hanmu Yan
Toronto, ON, Canada

Dr. Yan is a urologist practicing in Toronto, ON.

He completed his medical degree ta the University of Toronto and his urology residency at the University of British Columbia, followed by a fellowship at USC in oncology and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Yan is an innovator in AI-driven healthcare. He develops tools like Partner in Practice (clinical decision support), LightScribe (AI scribe), and ChartPrepper (chart prep assistant) to reduce administrative work and enhance patient care. He frequently gives lectures focused on the use of AI to improve healthcare.
