About Victoria

The 2020 CUA Annual Meeting welcomes you to the capital of British Columbia, beautiful Victoria. Once the ancestral home of many First Nations people and hub of the 19th century Gold Rush, it is now a city renowned for its quality of life, its unique culture, diversity and high place of innovation, both technological and academic.

CUA 2020 will present its science component at the Victoria Convention Center, conveniently and directly connected to the legendary Fairmont Empress, headquarters of the event.

The Fairmont Empress has a magnificent view of the illustrious harbor and within walking distance of numerous restaurants, the Royal Museum of British Columbia as well as its historic downtown core, whether on foot or by water taxi, we recommend you take the time to explore the city.

You can access the island by air or sea, you will find all the transportation options to get to Victoria by visiting the Destination Victoria page of the CUA 2020 website.

Come as a delegate but consider bringing your family along as Victoria has so much to offer; its beautiful landscapes and many parks and gardens. If you enjoy the outdoors, you can take delight in the many water sports or mountain climbing the region has to offer.

We look forward  to greeting you in the city which boasts having the mildest climate in Canada.
